Bummed out...

A co-worker of mine--no, a good person/woman, just passed away yesterday after fighting a long illness. Although I didn't know her well, we were on friendly terms, often joking and chatting after the brief meetings we'd attend. I can genuinely say that she was a pleasure to know; someone who has a wonderful smile that just filled you up, even if you weren't in the mood to be. She was a good spirit, and this place, like many others could use more like her. I want to say that she isn't suffering anymore, which I believe. But truthfully, I wish she pulled through it all and got a chance to live more life. Rest in peace Antia.

Yuck!

Is it me, or does the new "Double-Down" sandwhich from KFC bear a striking resemblence to the ridiculousness that was "The Luther" on the Boondocks animated series? If you haven't heard, the new sandwhich is comprised of bacon, cheese, and "the Colonol's Sauce", all sandwhiched between two fried chicken breast filets (not buns--fried filets--of chicken). Can we say congestive heart failure? What the hell man?

Stakes is High

Yeah, I’m a little late on this one, but the De La Soul concert on Tuesday was bananas! Hearing some of my favorite De La joints with live instrumentation took it to a whole new level for me. In fact, Stakes is High sounds way hotter with live instruments than the studio recording I’ve played so many times. There’s a sinister undertone, an urgency to it when it’s played live. The opening acts were cool, too. I like Big Pooh a bit more now that I’ve seen him live, although I still dig Phonte’s work way more. The dude Kenan Bell also did his thing; old dude rocked about 5 songs without cursing, unless I missed something. The concert was Tuesday, and my feet are still sore (flat feet). That was one of the best concerts I’ve been to, minus the groupies/chicken heads, who apparently even show up in full force to De La Soul concerts.

Also, I’m trying to take a more aggressive stance with regards to getting myself to write. It’s still a new process, but we’ll see. I feel I need to finish one writing project in rough draft form at least to have done something creatively worthwhile this year. Oh, and I have some clothing designs to roll out. I think I’m going to use Zazzle as the print on demand service, and maybe keep CafePress in my back pocket. We shall see. Life is starting to get really serious these days, so I need to start finalizing products. Like, I did my hip hop CD, but I think I was really doing that project for me. I like it, but I don’t really care if I push it or not. I’m strongly considering releasing it for free, like you can download it for free.

Anyways, looking forward to the weekend. I’m so tired it’s not even funny. I will holla. Be easy!

...and she got her G.E.D., too!

So, is this the reason that our individualism and expectation of self (self respect) is in rapid decline, too many dumb dudes are getting too many dumb women impregnated? That's right, I said it, and I ain't Barack Obama, so I ain't taking back nothin'! Seriously though, this is a topic for discussion, does the pursuit of career mean the endangerment of the upwardly mobile black family structure? Let's build.
