Best Buy (truly)

So I finally scrounge up the $$$ to cop this Wacom Tablet Monitor that I've been eyeing for the last year or so. Honestly, I was looking at the 20" model, but determined I didn't need that, it just would have been nice to have, y'know? Honestly, I didn't need the one I just got, but it will enable me to streamline a lot of my workflows when it comes to drawing for the computer. The old way meant drawing, then scanning, then re-drawing (because the scan never works perfectly)...then if I have to color, that's a whole other set of issues. This way, I spend more time creating than BSing with the little stuff, y'know?

So, after watching the price remain the same for about a year, I saw Best Buy had it for $100 off, which prompted me to go ahead and buy the bad boy online. With tax, it came up to roughly $970, which means I saved pretty well, because tax was going to get me wherever I bought. Anyway, I paid for it on Saturday, and it arrived a day early this Wednesday. So when I see it sitting there in front of the door, I'm geeked. I pick the jon't up, and can't help but notice how heavy it is. Not that I couldn't lift it, but the jon't is supposed to be pretty light.

So, I change out of my work clothes and proceed to unpacking the UPS bag it came in to reveal a brown Wacom box. I'm like a kid at Christmas. I open the box and...two boxes.

First thought: Wow, they send it in two parts?
Second thought: No way, that's stupid. Did they send me two monitors?

Yup, that's exactly what they did (I had to triple check my receipt just to make sure I didn't goof up somewhere). The first instinct was to return the item unopened and say I changed my mind, thereby getting my money back. But, I quickly came to the conclusion that it would not only be stealing, I'd effectively be having Best Buy pay me to steal from them. Not cool, not me. Although $1 K in my pocket that I prolly shouldn't have spent going back in my pocket sounds nice, moms raised me better than that. So I called yesterday (Thursday) to see how I could return it, and the lady said I could either return it to a physical Best Buy retailer, or ship it back at my expense...what do you think I'm going to do.

I'm thinking I should get a gift card or something, but hey, we'll see. Either way, I believe in the old addage, "You reap what you sow"...karma and all that. With that, I belieeve something much better will come along instead. Least, that's what I'm telling myself right now...

This weekend should be pretty busy, hopefully I can witness a bit of trouble without getting into any myself, what with Family get-togethers and bachelor parties and what not. Oh, and the 'Skins play them Cowgirls this weekend, so I'm charged about that. I so hope we whup dat ass, so I can shut all these haters up who work with me. Anyway, still getting used to flying dolo...but also remembering what it's like to have options if you choose to exercise them. Hmmmm...

Follow-up: I returned the item to a Best Buy on Saturday out in Waldorf, much to the manager's delight/surprise. I got a $25 gift card, but the larger reward was my oldest nephew (who has been actin' a fool as of later) got a chance to see it. Hopefully this will be a positive lesson that he can draw upon in the future...
